The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration provides the following resources on Safe Routes to School (SR2S) programs.

NHTSA SR2S Practice and Promise

This guidebook explains ways to evaluate efforts to increase safe walking and bicycling to school and provides case examples of programs from around the country.

NHTSA SR2S Toolkit

This is a toolkit for use by educators and others to promote walking and biking to school that includes sections on mapping the routes to school, activities and outreach, and classroom lessons. The toolkit also includes sample SR2S forms, press releases, posters, and other resources.
